Sarah’s practice brings together the disciplines of Hatha and Vinyasa flow. The breath is at the forefront of her teaching alongside an intense, strong practice all at a meditative pace. She lays strong emphasis on the experiential, allowing the mind to become embodied, and the body to become mindful.
Sarah is of the firm belief that the Millenia in which we live, it is vital we carve out time to check in with ourselves and have time away from the demands that life imposes. Placing an emphasis on reflection rather than reflex, clarity over confusion, curiosity and inquisitiveness, compassion for ourselves as well as others, yoga invites all these wonderful qualities to be at the forefront of our lives.
By listening and feeling into the body’s subtle language, one starts to enter a meditative flow state that down regulates the nervous system. From here students are encouraged to enter enquiry into the experience without pushing or forcing, whilst still building power and capacity.
For Sarah, yoga has been transformative. As a result, Sarah’s intention through her teaching is to imbue her students with the curiosity and presence that emanates from the practice and allow them to take this energy beyond the mat into everyday life.
Having practiced yoga for over 10 years, in 2023 Sarah embarked upon a 200 hour teacher training at the Yoga Alliance accredited Samyama Meditation Centre in Bali. She is returning to Bali later this year to complete a further 300 hours of training.
Growing up she attended classical ballet classes and between the ages of 11-16, Sarah went on to train in all types of dance and drama at The Arts Educational School in London. Drama was always her first love, but she is forever grateful for the rigorous foundation and discipline that dance demanded of her.
Later in life, Sarah completed a Bachelor and Masters degree in English and European literature. As a result, Sarah likes to interweave philosophy, poetry and prose into her practice.
Sarah lives with her husband Rorke, Clemmie the Norfolk Terrier and their four grown up children who stay regularly.
The Barn at the Secret Breath is surrounded with its own garden within the depths of the Kent countryside. This situation allows for students to work symbiotically with the natural surroundings, the pace and philosophy of the practice shifting according to each Season. It provides a tranquil, quiet haven encouraging self-enquiry, contemplation or just to simply be.
“
The Barn is the most grounding space I’ve ever practiced in. Sarah‘s energy is extremely calming, as an anxiety sufferer, these classes are a staple for me.
